Artur Fron, Fontana Holywood
Polish Chef Artur Fron, who recently took up the post of Head Chef at Fontana Restaurant in Holywood, Co Down. Having previously worked in Belfast hospitality establishments, most recently as Head Chef at 2Taps, Artur brings his own unique passion for life to his culinary work. Under his direction the Fontana menu offers a taste of Asia, Europe and The Americas, all of which showcase the best of Northern Irish produce. Artur is a judge at FutureChef Northern Ireland and believes in encouraging and nurturing the next generation of chefs to have the same enthusiasm for what our local larder has to offer.
Sabeh Sendi, Carthago Moira
Sabel is originally from the very north tip of Tunisia, in the Mediterranean City of Bizerte She loves cooking. It’s a way of life and part of the her culture to learn to cook from a young age. Tunisia is a beautiful, magical and exotic country with beautiful beaches, nature, rich history with cuisine based on fresh meat, fish, seafood, veg, couscous, pasta, fruits and fresh spices and harissa and olive oil. After working as a chef for other people Sabel decided to open her own Tunisian restaurant to showcase her food and culture. The people of Northern Ireland have fully embraced Tunisian cuisine with the Moira based restaurant having a very loyal customer base. Sabel is looking forward to welcoming lots of new faces to dine.
Roy Abraham, Smugglers Table Killyleagh
The Smugglers Table in Killyleagh on the western shores of Strangford Lough is steeped in history but Chef Owner Roy Abraham and his partner Julie, who looks after the Front of House, keep the foodie experience at this quaint establishment bang up to date. Roy came to Ireland from his home in India to learn about European cuisine and was blown away by the riches of local produce on the doorstep of our wee country. Featuring ingredients from the likes of Finnebrogue, Eastcoast Seafood and Shortcross. This sustainable attitude to cooking can be seen across the regular dishes on Roy’s menu and also on the special tasting menus and pop-ups celebrating the cuisine of countries as diverse as Portugal and India.
