The 16th annual Belfast Mela will take place between the 20– 28 August 2022 with a week long programme of events across the city. As part of the week long programme there are two flagship events with a whole range of trading and exhibiting opportunities.
Mela Carnival
20 August, 1pm – 5pm, City Hall
Brand new to this year is our opening event, Mela Carnival. Following a 6 month community engagement programme we will create an 800 participant carnival parade through the city centre to mark the beginning of the festival. Following the carnival parade there will be a free global village party in the grounds of City Hall.
Mela Day
28 August, 12noon – 6pm, Botanic Gardens
The culmination of the week long festival will be our traditional large scale one day event at Botanic Gardens, which attracts thousands of attendees over the course of 6 hours.
The Mela is a wide ranging and diverse festival which attracts many different types of businesses and organisations across different sectors including:
- Restaurants and catering businesses
- Artisan food businesses
- Craft businesses
- Health and wellbeing businesses
- Arts and creative businesses
- Public sector organisations
- Third sector organisations
- Charities and not for profit organisations
