This year, as you wander Mela, Day, prepare for an unexpected encounter. Beyond the tantalizing aromas and lively music, a crucial story is waiting to unfold. Local and minority ethnic young people, brimming with talent and passion for drama, will transform into a menagerie of global wildlife – from majestic big cats to agile monkeys and elusive hyenas. Through a powerful, immersive performance, these young artists will step out from behind the scenes, their animal personas a stark visual representation of species displaced by our changing climate. As they navigate the human spaces of the Mela, their presence will serve as a poignant reminder that the boundaries between natural habitats and human dwelling places are blurring.
