MANY MEMORIES, MANY VOICES: Reflecting on Colonialism, the British Empire and Identity in Northern Ireland and Ireland
MMMV is an engagement project led by Queen’s University Belfast, in partnership with ArtsEkta and the Irish Museums Association.
MMMV is for people living in Northern Ireland and Ireland to share memories, stories, and objects related to colonialism and the British Empire.
It aims to support UN Sustainable Development Goal 16: promoting just, peaceful, and inclusive societies, by fostering equality, helping to combat racism, and promoting decolonisation.
MMMV enables you to voice your perspectives on these histories, using the Participant Auto-Ethnography method to explore the complex afterlives of empire, and how they shape social identities today.
Bringing together the work of contributors throughout the MMMV project is an exhibition showing at Belfast Central Library from 14 June – 30 August 2024. This includes ‘Response’ by artist Peter Surginor, exploring ideas and objects that people raised.
