BELFAST MELA

Tea Walking Tour

A dander around Belfast with your host, a plucky tea-worker from 1886, returned from the past to tell the true story of tea in the city.

We’re back with our Mela tea tours after popular demand! Tea was once so expensive that only the rich could afford to drink it.  Find out how all that changed.  Here in Belfast we like a brew so strong you could stand a stick up in it – nothing wrong with that!  From Sirocco to Sawers; from Nambarrie to Suki; come along for a walk, a yarn and a few brews along the way.

These events are part of our heritage programme, You, Me & Tea, which explores the history of tea in Northern Ireland and cultural links with countries such as China & India. Supported by the National Lottery Heritage Fund.
