Experience the traditional urban art of South Asian with our amazing Truck Art outdoor installation created by artists and communities across the city throughout the summer. Trucks of all shapes and sizes will descend onto Botanic Gardens to re-create the busy streets of South Asia and tell local stories.
There’s a quirky magic associated with trucks across South Asia that is much loved by generations. Among truck owners, there’s a common belief that a beautiful truck is essential for good business, and hence every truck will be decked up with bright vivid colours and trademark tyopgraphy. Painting trucks with a kaleidoscope of colours, slogans and painted symbols is a skill both artists and driver take huge pride in.
The installation will be at Botanic Gardens between the 23rd – 29th August and we will have hands on workshops throughout the week where you can create your own mini truck. Please visit belfastmela.org.uk for workshop times and to book a slot.
